The rules & guidelines are meant to promote eco-friendly spa usage
Minimum Age
Hastings Spa Reflexology Sauna follows several robust
health and industry standards:
12 or older to use Sauna. 16+ for Body Massage.
● Sauna Heat Regulations: Children under 12 have underdeveloped
thermoregulatory systems. They sweat less and absorb heat much faster than
adults, putting them at severe risk for heatstroke, dehydration, or fainting in
steam or infrared environments.
● BC Personal Service Establishments Regulation: Section 3 of this provincial
regulation explicitly states that operators must maintain and operate their
premises “so as to prevent a health hazard occurring”. Restricting young children
from a high-heat environment is considered active health-hazard prevention.
● Body Massage Limitations: Deep tissue or intensive body massage styles are
generally inappropriate for developing muscle and skeletal frameworks. Spa
industries widely restrict standard adult body massages to individuals aged 16+
or 18+, restricting younger profiles entirely or requiring mandatory parental
presence.
Safety & Hygiene
In consideration of patrons who use our facility while barefoot, please do not bring any breakable glass items such as glass jugs to the spa to avoid breakage and injuries to self and others.
Food items including fruits are not allowed in our facility because it attracts insects insects into our humid and hot saunas.
Sustainable Towel Use
In our effort to keep your cost down and be environmentally responsible, Hastings Spa will continue to launder and recycle all towels for the duration of its serviceable life. Customers have the option to use them free of charge or to bring their own towels. Additionally, new towels can be purchased from Hastings Spa reception for $20 each.
Please be advised to use the free of charge towels for their intended purpose only and not for other purposes such as dyeing hair, etc. in consideration of other patrons.

Hastings Spa likes to acknowledge the great value our Fusion Body Massage Vancouver masseuses provide. Working as unregistered massage therapists, though comparably proficient in almost all aspects of the craft, they garner only a fraction of the registered rates. That, in turn, lets Hastings Spa pass on the great rates to our valued patrons.
Gratuities are appreciated as a way to support our dedicated team and help us continue providing affordable wellness to the Vancouver community.
